Arbiter
Author: Tania
Rating: PG
Summary: A drabble written for the Open_on_Sunday group on Live Journal.

Arbiter: one having the power of judging and determining.

The word gray has leaked into our collective vocabulary in unsettling ways. Good and evil blend together; swirling in a rush of color, bleeding out in this bland wash of gray.

Employees who cannot accept the new rules of engagement. Staff who refuse to mute their after hours activities. Clients who may have been decent people at one point are corrupted beyond redemption.

I have become the arbiter. I am the one forced to dip my toes in the expanse of gray that seems to fill my office. Another head hits the floor and I yearn for black and white.
