Title: Measure Twice
"Wesley," Angelus slid up the wall to standing, taking long, steady strides towards the bars that enclosed him. "Didn't expect to see you back so soon."
Wesley pulled a chair across the basement floor, its metal feet scraping on the concrete as he moved it into place, just outside the red line that outlined the cage.
"Seems a waste of time doesn't it?" Angelus asked, his stare meeting Wesley's as they both looked to the painted lines on the floor.
"Hardly. You've already shown us exactly why it's so imperative for us to remain on our side of the line." Wesley sat in the chair, lining his toes up with the outermost edge of the paint.
"You know I don't mean for them."
"Yes, quite." leaning back in the chair, Wesley slid his hands down his thighs until they rested on his knees.
"Angel knew it wasn't them I'd have to worry about too," Angelus curled his fingers around the bars, nearly resting his forehead on the cold steel as he watched Wesley's body tense. "Stand up."
"I think you've forgotten you aren't the one in charge here," Wesley said, righting himself in the chair and pulling at the edges of his shirt until the wrinkles disappeared.
"I'm not?" Angelus pushed away from the bars. "I guess that means that you are. So tell me Wesley, exactly what is it that you want to know? Oh that's right, I keep forgetting you know all about me."
"Enough," Wesley answered.
"And how much of that came from books, and how much first hand?"
"I can just picture it now," Angelus spun around, waving his hands in the air, "Come on Angel, just one more bedtime story, tell me about the time you popped Spike's cherry. Just one more time Angel, I promise I'll change all the diapers for a week."
"I said enough," Wesley said, rising from the chair. "Do you know what I want to know?"
"And what's that?"
"Just how close you can get your cock to the bars without ending up in a body bag."
"And you think I don't know that already? Wesley smiled, turning away just before stepping onto the red, "How do you think we measured where to paint the line?"
"Well, you know what they say, Wes," Angelus said, mirroring
Wesley's grin, "Always measure twice."
