“Have you ever seen anything like that?”
Her tone was soft, terrified like Riley hadn’t heard in a woman’s voice in years.
“Not exactly,” he lied, trying to keep the demon in view.
“But you’re not scared?” She asked, awkwardly gripping the rifle that had been thrust into her hands.
“It’s just part of the job,” catching the demon in his sights Riley squeezed the trigger, only stopping once he heard the dull thud of flesh on the jungle floor.
“You got it,” she said smiling, “will there be more?”
“Always,” he said, “I’ll walk you back to the camp.”
